BIG BLUE NATION! Two things I have to talk about. First, John Wall first game as a Wizard; 24 points, 8 assists. Not bad for a rookie huh. Wall hasn't played a game since UK, so that is a positive start for the young man, a real confidence builder. He also had 8 turnovers which makes his assist to turnover ratio even, but he is just a rookie in his first game. He will be a great NBA player. The second thing I want to talk about is the loss of one of our ex-cats who was one of the greatest big men in UK history. RIP Melvin Turpin, a great player and great person. I watch him play as a kid and the thing I remember the most was his soft little jump shot around the basket. His jump shot was beautiful for a big, back when big men could shoot free throws. Good bless his family.

BE ADVISED BIG BLUE NATION

Lets make one thing crystal clear BIG BLUE NATION, we are going to be under the spotlight no matter what happens with UK basketball.  Be prepared for this kind of scrutiny for as long as Coach Cal is head coach of the Cats.  The players he goes after are the most talented, and high profiled players in the nation.  If we get 5 out of the top 10 to commit to UK, then everyone is going to assume we are cheating.  So, whether or not Coach Cal is guilty of anything illegal, BIG BLUE NATION should be prepared to hear the rumors and allegation, because they are going to be out there, always.  I 'm not really happy with it.  I personally think it makes the program look bad.  Even though this last allegation is bull. Wall, Cousins, Bledsoe, and Ortan  having agents before the 2010 season began is just plain stupid.  If those players had any involvement with agents prior to the season starting, how would UK know anything about it. I'm going to go out on a limb and say that the agents got in touch with those players not the other way around. Regardless, UK doesn't have a thing in the world to do with that.  They did not hire agents because they didn't have any money, and at the time, any promise of a NBA career.  John Wall was the only one projected to go high in the NBA draft during that time. Rumors and allegations are just some of the things that the University of Kentucky and its' fans are going to have to put up with every year Coach Cal is coach.  My question to BIG BLUE NATION, is it a small price to pay or a big price that we can not afford?  Will all these allegations and rumors come back to bite the University of Kentucky in the long run?

If you were grading this blog, what kind of grade would you give it?
