Top Three UK Point Guards
The Bledsoe thing has been beat into the ground now, so lets talk best wildcat point guards. When I think about point guards, one guard stands out in UK history, Sean Woods. Woody was a superior ball handler and passer that defenders could not keep out of the paint. He made things happen when he had the ball in his hands and he always gave his teammates the ball in scoring position. I also like Cliff Hawkins. Hawkins could do everything Woods could do,but he also had a deadly jump shot from 15 feet in. In a interview Chuck Hayes called Hawkins, "Dead on Catch." When Cliff caught the ball off a pick, right it down, that was 2 points every time. My favorite guard in the history of Wildcat Basketball, is Rajon Rondo. There have been a lot of good point guards in UK's history, but none of them compare to Rondo, I think. He only spent 2 years at Kentucky and he lead UK in scoring, rebounding, and assists. I know he is the fastest guard that has ever worn a UK jersey. Rondo was also a lock down defender. Cliff Hawkins was a good defender too, but Rondo with those long arms and big hands, sometimes would not let the opposing point guard bring the ball up the floor. Not to mention his NBA career which has given him a ring, a trip to his first all star game, and he is playing the best ball of his career in the NBA finals right now. Yeah, Big Blue Nation, Rondo is the man. And to think a lot of you UK fans didn't like the kid from Louisville KY. Shame on you because this guy is headed to the Hall of Fame if he can continue this level of play. Who coached this kid? Oh yeah, Tubby Smith.
